Have you ever wondered what kind of bats are flying around your house on a summer evening? Now is your chance to find out more about the bat species that call Prescott home. The Highlands Center for Natural History Community Science team invites you to come and see our designer bat box and the small bat population we have been monitoring this summer. With any luck, they will make an appearance shortly after sunset on this moonlit night in Walnut Meadow. Vocalizing outside the range of human hearing, these nocturnal mammals can be difficult to identify, but witness how our team uses the EchoMeter bat detector to listen, identify and record their ultrasonic calls in real-time.
Suggested gear: flashlights with red light, comfortable and sturdy shoes, hiking or walking sticks, a lightweight chair or pad for sitting
